The holidays at Disneyland are a time of enchantment, nostalgia, and sweet indulgences. Among the seasonal treats that make the Disney Parks extra magical during this time are the beloved Candy Cane Mickey Beignets. These festive confections capture the whimsy of the holidays and the charm of Mickey Mouse, all while satisfying sweet tooth cravings. Let’s explore what makes this treat a must-try for Disney-goers. Now, you can recreate the magic in your own kitchen with this Disneyland Candy Cane beignets recipe.
Cooking Tips
You will need a standing mixer with a dough hook to make these beignets. I like the Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer. You will also need a Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter. If you don't have one, you can just cut the beignets into square shapes. I also used a Candy Thermometer to ensure that the cooking oil stayed at 350 degrees Fahrenheit which helped the beignets to cook evenly.

Disneyland Candy Cane beignets are an iconic Disney food for the holidays that makes a perfect breakfast or snack.
Ingredients
Beignet Ingredients
1/2teaspoon dry yeast
1/4cup warm water (105°)
1/4cup sugar
2tablespoons vegetable shortening
1/2teaspoon salt
1/2cup heavy cream
1 egg (large)
4cups all-purpose flour
1/2cup boiling water
Vegetable oil for frying
Topping Ingredients
1cup powdered sugar
4 candy canes
Glaze Ingredients
1/2cup powdered sugar
1tbsp heavy cream or milk
1/4tsp peppermint extract (optional)
Instructions
Sprinkle yeast over warm water in a small bowl, stirring to dissolve. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Combine sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour and boiling water in a large bowl; stir in yeast mixture. With the dough hook attachment of an electric mixer on medium speed, mix the dough just until combined and smooth. Let dough rest for 30 minutes.
Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter or cut into 2 1/2 to 3-inch squares. Cover with a towel and let dough rise until doubled in size in a warm, draft-free area, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Using caution, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F in a deep, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes, turning as soon as they brown on one side. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain.
Add 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar to a ziplock bag. Add 4 candy canes and use a rolling pin to crush the candy canes and mix in with the confectioner's sugar.
Drop the beignets into the ziplock bag 2 at a time and toss to coat the beignets in the sugar and candy cane mix.
To make the glaze, add 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar, 1 tbsp heavy cream or milk, and 1/4 tsp peppermint extract (optional).
Serve with the glaze or your choice of topping ♨ and enjoy!
