One of my favorite quick-service snacks at Magic Kingdom is the Cheddar, Bacon, and Ranch Tots from Friar’s Nook in Fantasyland. There’s just something about the combination of crispy golden tater tots, gooey melted cheddar cheese, smoky bacon, and creamy ranch that makes them impossible to resist. The best part is that this Magic Kingdom Cheddar Bacon Ranch Tots recipe is incredibly easy to recreate at home using frozen tater tots and freshly shredded cheddar, so you can enjoy this Disney-inspired comfort food anytime you’re craving a taste of the parks.

Cooking Tips

For the crispiest tots, avoid overcrowding the baking sheet and bake them directly from frozen. You can also prepare them in an air fryer in batches. Add the ranch just before serving so the tots stay crisp underneath the melted cheddar and bacon. A mild cheddar will give the tots a smoother, classic flavor, while sharp cheddar makes the cheese topping richer and more pronounced. I like to shred my own cheese using the Ourokhome Rotary Cheese Grater Hand Crank.

Description

Cheddar, Bacon, and Ranch Tots is an iconic Disney food that makes a perfect, easy snack or meal on a busy day.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the package directions for the tater tots. Arrange the frozen tots in a single layer on a large baking sheet.

  2. Bake the tots until they are golden brown and extra crispy, usually about 25 to 30 minutes. Turn them halfway through cooking so they brown evenly on both sides.

  3. While the tots are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate, then crumble or chop it into small pieces.

  4. Use a box grater or a handheld cheese grater to shred the block of cheddar cheese. Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.

  5. When the tots are crispy, separate them into 4 bowls. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar evenly over the hot tots, followed by the crumbled bacon.

  6. Drizzle the ranch dressing over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired, serve ♨ and enjoy!
