If you’ve ever visited Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort during Halloween, you might have come across their delightfully spooky Halloween-themed beignets. These fluffy, sugary treats are transformed into festive shapes and colors, perfect for the Halloween season. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait until your next Disney trip to enjoy them. Now, you can recreate the magic in your own kitchen with this Port Orleans French Quarter Halloween beignets recipe.
Cooking Tips
You will need a standing mixer with a dough hook to make these beignets. I like the Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer. You will also need a Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter. If you don’t have one, you can just cut the beignets into square shapes. I also used a Candy Thermometer to ensure that the cooking oil stayed at 350 degrees Fahrenheit which helped the Mickey beignets to cook evenly. You can either use a food processor or a rolling pin to crush the Oreos to make the coating for the beignets.

Instructions
-
Sprinkle yeast over warm water in a small bowl, stirring to dissolve. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Combine sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour and boiling water in a large bowl; stir in yeast mixture. With the dough hook attachment of an electric mixer on medium speed, mix the dough just until combined and smooth. Let dough rest for 30 minutes.
-
Roll to 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter or cut into 2 1/2 to 3-inch squares. Cover with a towel and let dough rise until doubled in size in a warm, draft-free area, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
-
Using caution, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350ยฐF in a deep, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes, turning as soon as they brown on one side. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain.ย ย

Crush the oreos in gallon zip-top bag (or you can use a food processor). Combine the powdered sugar and crushed oreos in the bag and add the beignets. Toss until well coated.
-
Using a fork, drizzle the mallow sauces onto the beignets alternating white and purple. Serve immediately โจ and enjoy!
